About Me
Volcan Irazu, Costa Rica
I am a fourth year student at the University of Florida majoring in Public Health and minoring in Education studies and Anthropology. It is my goal to pursue a Master of Education to study Elementary Education. I believe my background in public health and anthropology will be an asset as I enter the field of education because it will help me teach in an equitable and culturally conscious way.
During my time at the University of Florida, I have had the opportunity to learn from esteemed professors and collaborate with my peers who have helped me grow as a person and student.
Moreover, as a participant in the international scholars program I have been able to approach academics through a global lens and work towards a global education.
I have been fortunate enough to have been exposed to rich cultural experiences from a young age. My mother is from Ecuador and my father is from the United States. I have always been proud of all aspects of my cultural identity and am grateful that my family made it a priority to educate and immerse my brother in our culture. My family has always encouraged me to be a world traveler and a lifelong learner. Being a part of the International Scholars Program has allowed me to work towards this goal.
I am excited to share my global experiences with you!
